Perlinette Fir Wood is a natural clumping litter made from the bark of fir wood.
- The trunk of these trees is sent to the sawmill to be used as lumber, the small branches are used to operate the boilers and the bark is ground on the spot and then mixed with potato starch to make it agglomerate.
- It is then compressed under high pressure into "pellets" to extract the humidity, then it is dried slowly in a tunnel under a flow of hot air produced by a boiler which operates by combustion of scrap wood.
- At the end of the operations, the objective is to obtain a product with a residual humidity of around 10-12% and almost no tannin or resin.
- Only the bark is used on the one hand because it is the most porous part of the tree and on the other hand because it contains practically no resin and tannins.
- Extremely absorbent: more than 180%.
