Directions

NICODERM® STEP 3 (7 mg/day) is a medicine that can help you stop smoking by reducing withdrawal symptoms and nicotine cravings. To increase your chances of quitting, use with a stop smoking support program as identifed in the enclosed User Guide. ADULT DOSAGE: Important: Before using NICODERM®, carefully read enclosed User Guide for complete instructions. Apply one patch every 24 hours to a non-hairy, clean, dry area of your front or back above the waist or the upper outer area of your arm. It is important to complete treatment. If you feel you need to use NICODERM® Patch for a longer period to keep from smoking, talk to your healthcare provider. Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions concerning NICODERM®. Do not use if pouch is open. NOTE: If you weigh less than 45 kg (100 lb), or have heart disease and your doctor recommends NICODERM® - DO NOT USE Step 1 (21 mg per day). Start with Step 2

Warnings and precautions

Minor skin irritation, headache, light-headedness, insomnia, stomach upset and vivid dreams. Allergic reactions (including symptoms of anaphylaxis) occur rarely during use. Keep out of reach of children. DO NOT USE IF YOU: Are under 18 years of age; are an occasional or non-smoker; are pregnant or nursing; have generalized skin disorders (e.g. eczema, rash); are allergic to nicotineor any of the non-medicinal ingredients. Check with your doctor or pharmacist before using NICODERM® patches if you have had any of the following: a heart attack (myocardial infarction), irregular heart beat (arrhythmia), high blood pressure, a history of epilepsy or seizures, thyroid problems, stomach problems, kidney or liver disease, treatment of circulation disorders of the brain, are taking any prescription drugs,rashes from adhesive tape or bandages, inflammation of the esophagus, heart pain (angina), stroke, heart disease, blood circulation problems, stomach ulcers, diabetes requiring insulin, allergies to drugs, skin diseases, a tumor of the adrenal gland (phaeochromocytoma). If you have diabetes, you may need to monitor your blood sugar levels more closely than normal when you stop smoking and start using this product. Signs of an overdose include bad headaches, dizziness, nausea, abdominal pain, drooling, vomiting, diarrhea, coldsweat, blurred vision, difficulty with hearing, mental confusion, weakness and fainting, rapid heartbeat and difficulty breathing. At high doses, these symptoms may be followed by low blood pressure, weak and irregular pulse, breathing difficulties, extreme exhaustion, circulatory collapse and general convulsions. Before undergoing any Magnetic Resonance Imagining (MRI) procedure, remove the patch to prevent the risk of burn. Remove your NICODERM® patch and consult your doctor or pharmacist if: you have chest pain, irregular heartbeat or palpitations, or leg pain or if severe persistent stomach upset (indigestion, heartburn) develops, your skin swells or gets a rash, you have skin redness caused by the patch that does not go away after four days, symptoms persist or get worse, or if new symptoms occur, you think you are pregnant. Avoid becoming pregnant while using NICODERM®. Nicotine in any form may cause harm to your unborn baby.
