Backup Plan Onestep 1 tablet

Backup Plan Onestep is a single-tablet emergency contraceptive medication containing levonorgestrel. It's used to prevent pregnancy after unprotected sexual intercourse. 

What it is:

• Emergency contraceptive (often referred to as the "morning-after pill")
• Contains 1.5mg of levonorgestrel, a progestin hormone

How it works:

• May prevent ovulation (egg release)
• May prevent fertilization (sperm meeting egg)
• May prevent implantation ( fertilized egg attaching to the uterus)

Effectiveness:

• Most effective if taken within 12-24 hours after unprotected sex
• Effectiveness decreases the longer you wait (up to 72 hours)

How to take it:

• Take one tablet by mouth as soon as possible after unprotected sex, ideally within 72 hours (3 days)
• Can be taken with or without food, although taking it with food might reduce nausea

Important notes:

• Backup Plan Onestep is not intended for regular birth control.
• It won't terminate an existing pregnancy.
• It may cause side effects like nausea, vomiting, fatigue, headache, dizziness.
• If you experience severe vomiting within 2 hours of taking it, consult your healthcare provider as you may need another dose.

Before using Backup Plan Onestep:

• Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially blood clots, heart disease, liver disease, or high blood pressure.
• Inform them of any medications you're currently taking, as there might be interactions.
